Yes — Beachfront on Waiheke is available as an exclusive whole-property booking sleeping up to 29 guests across six apartments and The Beach House at Onetangi. Perfect for family reunions, milestone birthdays, wedding parties and special celebrations. Minimum stay applies and varies by season. Yes — our six apartments and The Beach House at Onetangi are positioned directly opposite Onetangi Beach, one of New Zealand’s finest north-facing swimming beaches. A quiet beachfront road runs the length of the bay — typical of New Zealand’s best coastal villages — with easy pedestrian access to the sand just steps from your door.

Yes there is one park available per apartment. Parking is not allocated, you can take whichever spot is available.

Pets may be permitted by prior arrangement only and are not always possible, as specific apartments are allocated for pet stays and maintaining high cleanliness standards for all guests is important to us.

Pets are not permitted on furniture or bedding. Guests are asked to bring any bedding or other requirements for their pet and to clean up after them during their stay.

Standard check-in is 2:00 PM and check-out is 10:00 AM.

Guests who book directly through our website receive priority consideration for early check-in and late check-out. Early check-in from 1:00 PM is available free of charge if space permits, or from 12:00 PM for an additional fee. Complimentary late checkout until 11:00 AM is available if space permits, or until 12:00 PM for an additional fee.

Please note we organise our cleaners in advance — notice is required for all early check-in and late check-out requests. You can select these options at the checkout stage when booking through our website.

To confirm a reservation, a deposit of the first night’s accommodation is required. Where a one-night stay is booked, the full 1 night’s accommodation is charged in full.

Full payment is required one month prior to arrival for bookings made more than six months in advance and otherwise 48 hours prior to arrival.

Direct payment is encouraged in advance. Please pay to Strand Holdings 1997 Limited 06 0103 021867801. .

Payments will be automatically processed to the credit card on file 48 hours prior to arrival if the direct debit not pre-arranged and notified to us by email in advance of this. Failure to make the payment may result in automatic cancellation of the reservation. Credit and debit card surcharges of 2.95% apply for AMEX, Mastercard & Visa. 1.8% is oncharged to customers not electing to pay directly.

Payments are facilitated through our website booking system, operated through Little Hotelier by SiteMinder. We accept all major Credit/Debit Cards.

High season

Cancellations made within 7 days prior to peak season arrival, between December 25th and January 10th are not refundable, and the full stay will be charged.

Other seasons
Cancellations made 14 days or more prior to the scheduled arrival date: $50 cancellation fee per apartment and $250 for the Main Residence

Cancellations made 14 days to 48hrs prior to your booking: Cancellation fee equivalent to 1 night’s accommodation per apartment.

Cancellations made less than 48 hours, or “no shows” are not refundable, and the full stay will be charged.

Yes — Beachfront on Waiheke is an ideal base for walking the Te Ara Hura, Waiheke Island’s network of over 100km of walking tracks. You can plan it as your first day walk and base from there.  See our dedicated page for more information.

Play In The Water

During the summer months the water beckons, that said you can swim year round. Often Onetangi beach has some pretty good waves for body or boogie board surfing, and with all that space you’re unlikely to drift into anyone else.

When it is calmer you can hire Stand Up Paddle Boards from Onetangi Beach Managers.

Get your dose of exercise in and partake in a good old kayaking adventure. Take one out into the bay for a trip on your own or join a guided tour—where you’ll be taken to secluded bays for a swim and enjoy a packed lunch on a remote beach.

Explore The Island By Foot

Did you know that Waiheke is home to more than 100 kilometres of walking track ranging from the easy peasy stroll to the more challenging hours-long hikes? There’s a network all over the island which allow you to strike off into the great unknown and discover breathtaking views from all angles. Our favourite daily walks are:

Onetangi Beach – Onetangi Beach Path – coastal walks on Waiheke Island (aucklandcouncil.govt.nz) – literally across the road, you can’t get lost! There is also a track at the Eastern end of the beach that takes you to Garratt Road if you want a little climb and to make your way back towards the beach through Onetangi Reserve.

Zip Through The Trees

See the island from an exhilaratingly different angle as you whistle along on zip lines over vineyards and trees with the famous Auckland skyline in the background at Eco Zip Adventures. There are zip lines of differing intensity for you to enjoy on the island—the steepest line will see you pelting along at 50km an hour. Afterwards take a stroll through the ancient forest and discover more about the flora and fauna that call this beautiful island home.

Eat Up

Whilst you’re enjoying all that Waiheke has to offer, don’t forget to refuel. There are plenty of good restaurants in town but a few of our favourites include  Italian Fenice cafe and Mudrick’s Archive Bar which are both in Oneroa. For a feed that’s welcome at any time of the day we can’t go past the Oneroa’s Dragonfired pizza and I Love crepes food truck where you’ll be served delicious crepes at decent prices.

Locally enjoy, Three Seven Two and Ki Maha from where you can enjoy stunning views of Onetangi beach or the nearby the string of vineyards including StoneyRidge, Tantalus, Te Motu and Casita Mira. , The Beach Café has café food, coffee and ice cream which is a good choice at any time of day.

The Onetangi Four Square is a short walk away for all your Food and Beverage requirements, including some takeaways.

Eat, Drink & Play

Head to Wild On Waiheke to try your hand at archery and laser clay bird shooting amongst the vines. Food and beverage is available and free options include petanque, giant chess and volleyball.

Sail Around The Island

Make like a millionaire and charter a boat with Terra and Tide to take you around the island complete with access to remote beaches and other nearby islands. Take a packed lunch or stop off at Man O’ War for one of their epic platters, before skipping back to the boat to continue your tour.

Try your Hand At Fishing

If fishing is more your thing there are options galore. Besides a myriad of charter fishing companies who can cater for newbies and old hands alike, there are options to fish off the pier if you prefer staying on terra firma.

Schedule Some Beach Time

Whilst lying on the beach is one of the best things to do on a sunny afternoon (wearing sunscreen of course), the stunning variety and placement of long white sand can also be taken advantage of to help you reach your #fitnessgoals. Go for long walks on the beach early in the morning (again, wearing sunscreen) and work up a hunger for brekkie; or kick it up a notch and go for a jog. If you really want to feel like you’re alive, work up a sweat with some interval running, apparently one of the fastest ways to get fit. Oneroa and Onetangi beaches are perfect choices for those wanting to make the most of their days in an active way and don’t forget those romantic sunset strolls too. Onetangi at low tide is ~ 4km return.

Get On Your Bike

Hire a bike (or better yet, an e-bike) for a chance to explore more of the island. There are two bike trails of varying difficulty; Rangihoua mountain bike trails, which are located at the Onetangi Sports Park and in the Whakanewha Regional Park. If you fancy getting around under your own steam but minus the exhausting pedal power, consider hiring an ebike.

Take In Some Art

For a one stop shop showcasing many artists on Waiheke try Artworks and the top of Oneroa. This may then inspire you to do the art trail, details of which can be found here.

Waiheke is also home to a fabulous biennial sculpture exhibition for most of the month of March called Sculpture On The Gulf where you can view artists’ creations set on a stunning backdrop and offers art focused weekends throughout the year.

Play A Round of Golf

En route to Onetangi you will see the Waiheke Golf Course ~ 2km from the apartments.  A golf simulator is also available across the road from the Golf Course at Heke.

Go For A Trot

For an adventure on horseback, saddle up for a trot around the island. Based on a private 1,000 acre peninsula on the Eastern part of the island, Waiheke Horse Tours cater for newbies right up to expert. With various packages and durations on offer this tour guarantees stunning views and good vibes.

Catch A Film

Waiheke locals don’t need to catch a ferry to get their movie night fix as they have one right in Oneroa. Waiheke Island Community Cinema is more than just a cinema, it’s a symbol of teamwork as it’s fully funded and governed by a board of trustees and movie buff volunteers within the Waiheke community. Not only do they screen blockbuster hits but they also screen short documentaries which capture the stories of the locals and is filmed by Waihekeans. Sink back into one of the couches for a unique experience.

Take To The Skies

Arrive on the island in style by chartering your own chopper with Heletranz which will whisk you from Auckland’s Albany to the heart of Waiheke in less than 15 minutes. Offering all sorts of all-inclusive options including heli-dining, heli-adventures and personally organised tours, go ahead and live your best life.

If you don’t have a car, the bus offers a regular service and the AT Hop timetable will provide connections to Ostend, Surfdale, Oneroa and Matiatia.

There are two primary options.

If you bring your car:

• Sealink which operates out of Half Moon Bay and Wynyard Wharf, central Auckland.

Without a car leave downtown Auckland by ferry to Matiatia:

How do I get to the Beachfront on Waiheke?

For arrivals at Matiatia you can:

• Rent a car and follow directions to Onetangi Beach. Once you see the beach, turn right on to The Strand. Beachfront on Waiheke (27 The Strand) is the first accommodation you will see, right after Ki Maha.
• Catch a taxi.
• Catch the Onetangi Bus to Onetangi Beach.
  • The 50A bus will stop at Ki Maha, walk toward the beach and turn right.
  • The 50B bus will stop at Charlie Farleys Café, again walk towards the beach and then walk 200 metres to the left.

Please note that Auckland Transport AT Hop Card can be used on the ferry and boat. For international travellers you will need to buy a boat ticket but can use your credit card to tap on an off the bus. 

For arrivals at Kennedy Point:

• Follow directions to Onetangi Beach. Once you see the beach, turn right on to The Strand, Beachfront on Waiheke (27 The Strand) is the first accommodation you will see.
